Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on August 25, 2026, issued an amendment to the older notification regarding Customs Tariff Values.

It has amended Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) dated August 3, 2001, by substituting Tables 1, 2 and 3 prescribing tariff values for specified imported goods. The tariff values for palm oils, palmolein, crude soybean oil and brass scrap in Table 1 remain unchanged. In Table 2, the tariff value for eligible gold is fixed at US$ 1,500 per 10 grams, while silver remains at US$ 2,097 per kg; the same values apply to the specified categories of gold and silver imports. Table 3 prescribes a tariff value of US$ 11,574 per metric tonne for areca nuts, also unchanged. 

The amended notification shall come into force from August 26, 2026.
